Mr Usman khan graduated in 1983 from AIMC. He trained in Pakistan, Ireland, UK & USA. He worked as a Registrar and Senior Registrar in North West Thames Rotation, followed by his appointment as RSO at the world famous St. Mark’s hospital for Colorectal Disease.
He trained in Radio-immunoguided surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Centre, Columbus, Ohio, USA with Professor. Edward W Martin. He is a consultant General, Colorectal & Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Macclesfield District General Hospital, East Cheshire NHS Trust, Macclesfield. Mr Khan is Clinical Director for Surgical Services. Mr Khan is lead for Enhanced Recovery after Surgery. He is also Lead & Co-ordinator for National Emergency Laparotomy Audit. Mr Khan is member of Manchester Cancer Pathway Board. He is also member of NHS colorectal Cancer Peer review board.
Mr Khan is founder member of MASNoW (Minimal Access Surgery North West), an organisation for development of laparoscopic surgery both for trainees and young consultants.
He also is a PLAB examiner for GMC. His previous appointments have been clinical Lead for General surgery & Allied specialties, colorectal Cancer lead and Mersey Deanery tutor for Specialty Doctors. An NHS audit in 2014 concluded that Mr Khan’s Patient Related outcomes were among the top ten percent of Consultant Surgeons in the country.
Mr Khan is a Fellow of Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland, Fellow of Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland, Member of Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association His research interests are Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery and Enhanced Recovery, Pelvic Floor Disorder & Day case surgery. His team regularly publishes & presents at national & international meetings.
Mr Khan is member of APPSUK Central Executive Council. He is also associated with several charity organisations both inside & outside Pakistan. Khan enjoys mountaineering, motorcycling, walking, working in the gym and spending time with family & friends.
